10 simple ways to start your day off happy

 
  • Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier - Wake up to a happy alarm
    • With setting your alarm earlier, you can wake up a bit earlier - even just a few minutes can give you time to gather yourself so you're not stressed and in a rush. This also gives you lets you SLOWLY wake up, mentally giving yourself time to plan your day and what to wear.
  • Simple stretches to help yourself wake up
    • Not only will it help you wake up, but it will give you that fresh feeling to start your day off. 
  • Give yourself at least 10-15 minutes of no-screen time
    • After waking up, don't go straight for your phone or watch the news on the tv - NO screen time. This helps you focus on yourself and starting your day. Sometimes we read or see things on our phones or tv that could easily stress us out. 
  • Read a motivational quote 
    • Reading a motivational quote (there are many apps available on your phone - some can even notify you when you wake up! Convenient!) This starts your day off with a mantra.
  • Be thankful/pray/meditate
    • No matter what religion you are, or whatever you believe in, waking up fresh and getting your day started with a little thank you or prayer is very emotionally satisfying. (Personally, meditating in the morning puts me back to sleep)
  • Don't overthink what you have to do today 
    • Upon waking up, don't think about everything you have to do today. Make a checklist in your head before you even get out of your bed. Yes, your day might be really hectic and packed, but having a checklist, or even better, a planner, can help organize your day. 
  • Music
    • I find that waking up to the sound of a song and getting ready while listening to music makes me happier and calms me down. It gives me a little distraction of my day's stresses and makes getting ready even more fun!
  • Shower and wash your face 
    • A fresh morning shower is definitely one of the best things that you can do. Washing your face is also very critical, with hygiene too. But splashing some cold water on your face can help jolt you up for your day.
  • Multivitamins 
    • We often neglect our bodies, especially when early in the morning, we are still half-asleep and need coffee. But supplements can really help you stay healthy. 
  • Take baby aspirin
    • "In one study of 220,000 doctors, those who took an aspirin every day for five years slashed their heart attack risk nearly in half." This is just one little baby step for your morning kick-off.
